Welcome to Co-Active Coaching.
This letter will confirm the coaching arrangements, plus a few other points for clarity.
Client/Coach Relationship
Coaching is a comprehensive process that may start out with one area of focus yet often involves other areas of your life including health, relationships, work, fun, relaxation, recreation, personal growth, spiritual growth & more. Together we will design a plan that works for you. I will be working with you to clarify your goals and desires and your vision of the life you want to have and the person you want to be. I will hold you accountable for implementing changes. I will never purposefully use shame to challenge or motivate you. And, I will not make judgments about you or your choices based upon my personal beliefs. The focus of the Coaching relationship is on you ~ what you need, who you are and what you want to do. I will be a trusted advocate through your personal journey of self-exploration, choice and growth.
Coaching vs Therapy
Life Coaching/Co-Active Coaching is not a substitute for counseling or psychotherapy. It is perfectly normal for feelings to come up through the coaching process. We will be aware of and curious about emotions, so that you can make desired choices and move into action. If either one of us feels there is a need for therapy or counseling during our sessions, we can openly discuss this and make an informed choice about how to proceed.
Commitments
As change happens over time, I suggest a minimum 3-month commitment to the coaching process. This allows the coaching relationship to develop and be powerful. After the initial 3-month period, we will together decide what’s next.
When it comes time to end the coaching relationship, I request one month’s notice. This will give us time to capture your learning and look to what is next in your life. I will not be angry or disappointed in you if you feel the coaching relationship is not right for you and you want to end prior to three months. I will be 100% committed to your being successful in the changes you want to make
Discovery Session
The purpose of this session is to establish our relationship and to jump start the coaching. We will go over your responses from the Coaching Intake and The Coaching Relationship questions as well as review this Coaching Agreement. This session will take up to 2 hours. This extended session gives us a chance to get to know each other and to choose how we want to work together – how you want me to coach you and the various tools, assessments, resources and coaching terms I use with clients. Most of this session is about discovery and serves to highlight what’s most important to you in your life, what’s supporting you having what you want and what’s getting in the way.
Procedure
After the Discovery Session, we will schedule regular sessions. The sessions may be by phone, ZOOM, or in-person. We will schedule a minimum of 2 sessions per month. The sessions are 50 minutes long. I am available in-between for calls, texts, e-mails. If either of us is away for one of the scheduled sessions, we will try to spend more time before or after the week we have missed. I know that things will come up for both of us and it may be necessary to change the appointment. My request is to have 48 hours notice for session changes and I will do the same. In an emergency, there may not be a 48-hour window to notify me or visa versa. In these situations, we will make every effort to let the other person know our situation.
Fees
The monthly session fee is . Please send your payment at the start of each month. If you would like me to send an invoice, please let me know. Venmo: @MyCoachAndrea-McDonough Address: McDonough Coaching, PO Box 301, Rowayton, CT 06853
